Chimper #1493
The scent of pine sap and sizzling mushrooms was the first thing Funami noticed when they arrived in The Heart of the Forest. Sent on a diplomatic mission, their godly gold fur and formal feather cape were meant to project power. Instead, they just seemed… stiff. The locals, far more interested in their next meal than in politics, paid them little mind. One afternoon, a small chimp, seeing them looking lost, presented them with a fishing lure as a gift of friendship. Funami’s mouth fell open in a perfect circle of shock. Touched and bewildered, they put it on their head. The warm, unreserved laughter that followed was the most welcoming sound they had ever heard. The embers on their back now toast chestnuts, not enemies, and their perpetual look of surprise is no longer from stress, but from simple, constant delight.
