Chimper #189
Kee the Chronicle Keeper does not own a single book. Visitors arrive in The Heart of the Forest expecting a library tended by a solemn scholar, but find only a masked figure who offers riddles and games of chance. Most leave frustrated, believing the title a joke. The truth, a secret blessed upon them by the wild spirit Aki, is that the Chronicles are not written on parchment. They are sung by the wind through the amber leaves and etched into the memory of river stones. Keeโs playful act is a necessary filter; the Kitsune mask conceals not a face, but a focus. It allows them to listen past the noise of supplicants and hear the forestโs own history. The poker face beneath rarely breaks, betraying nothing of the ancient truths they alone protect.
