That changed when imperial surveyors arrived, their chainsaws biting into sacred trees. Kayoshi didn't shout warnings or make threats. They moved through the undergrowth like a predator, a swift and silent force that left the surveyors disarmed and bound at the forest edge by dawn, with no memory of how they got there. These days, when a visitor asks about their intimidating epithet, Kayoshi just smiles, eyes crinkling with glee as they pour another cup of tea.
