Chimper #2257
The sharp clatter of bamboo on polished marble was the only sound Keyaki could hear over their own hammering heart. They were supposed to be delivering the reeds to the palace kitchens for a weaving demonstration. But a mix-up, a hurried official, and Keyaki’s own charmingly nervous smile led them here, to a sun-drenched training courtyard. The official, expecting a warrior, barked, “Show us your form!” Panicked, Keyaki fumbled with the bamboo, attempting the first knot of a simple basket. Their hands shook, and the entire bundle slipped, scattering across the gleaming floor. The reeds rolled and bounced, creating an intricate, accidental web around the official’s feet. They froze, unable to move without tripping. A stunned silence fell, broken by the official’s awed whisper, “Subtle. Disarming without a single strike.”
