Ekako

The fishers of Waterfall City say a deal made on the docks is worth more than a promise from the temple. Ekako learned that lesson the hard way, long before arriving, when a promise from Uragirimono left them with a scar across their face and nothing else. Their hunt for the betrayer stalled amid the city’s sprawling lower levels, a maze of fishing boats where they trusted no one. Least of all a talkative frog who offered river secrets for a share of the bounty. But the frog knew things others didn't. A deal was struck. The frog, Kawa, proved more useful than a dozen spies, their constant cheerfulness a grating counterpoint to Ekako's grim silence. The path to Uragirimono is still long, but for the first time, Ekako doesn't follow it alone.
