Three days after the great flood receded from Waterfall City’s lower districts, Shouta stopped drinking strawberry milk. Before the disaster, they were known for their silly meow cap and the sweet drink they always carried. But when the waters surged and they saw Naoyoshi’s hand slipping from a crumbling stone archway, Shouta traded their old self for the power to pull them back. The price was their eyes, now holding a grim, demonic light that unnerves the fishers they protect. They traded their decorative panda fan for a katana and their idle curiosity for a desperate need to understand the Mystic Cats' secret tunnels. They still wear the meow cap—a soft, foolish reminder of the person they sacrificed to save another.
