Chimper #3059
The keeper-in-training with the gentlest hands was, for a long time, also the second-best. Sekika would spend an entire sunset polishing a single facet on a divination crystal, while their rival, Kiri, could make three monoliths resonate with a single word. Everyone in The Crystal Highlands of Armaria believed Kiri was destined to be the next guardian of Hogo-sha's shrine. When the central monolith began to scream, its light fracturing into chaos, Kiri met its power with their own. The scream only grew louder. But Sekika didn't fight it. They approached, laid their palms flat against the vibrating stone, and began to hum an old, slow tuning hymn. The crystalโs violent light softened, its shriek quieting into a peaceful thrum. Kiri handles the storms; Sekika mends what breaks.
