Mureyoshi

One map covered in doodles, a pocketful of shiny pebbles, and a solemn vow to never miss a good puddle. This is the travel kit of Mureyoshi. The locals in The Heart of the Forest have grown accustomed to the sight: an arctic white chimp in a stern ninja mask, topped with a whimsical meow cap. They carry a carved cane not for defense, but to poke at interesting mushrooms and test the depth of streams. Today, they found a perfect one, wide and slow-moving. Their wide, intense eyes tracked the flight of a perfectly flat stone as it skipped seven times before sinking. The mask hid their smile, but the delighted wiggle of the cat ears gave everything away.
