Chimper #4541
Hokuri remembered the sudden, searing flash of purple light the first time the goggles activated, a 'gift' from the reclusive inventor Mekanikku. The world had dissolved into a web of shimmering energy trails that nobody else could see. These days, those same UV lenses were the only thing keeping them alive on the high-altitude streets. A freezing wind whipped at their bliss jumper, a useless comfort against the cold. "Left at the cherry blossom tree," a voice crackled in their recon headset. "And try not to look so perpetually shocked. It's unnerving." It was easy for Mekanikku to say, safe in some hidden workshop. Hokuri just did as they were told, following the spectral traces only they could perceive along the bamboo-lined avenues, a nervous set of eyes for a brilliant, disembodied mind.
