Chimper #5357
Who would bother trying to roast a marshmallow in a place of constant, swamp-making rain? Mahaya, that's who. They first appeared in The Dragon Wastelands without fanfare, setting up a small easel near the skeletal remains of some ancient beast. Warriors, trudging through the fog, would stop and stare, certain the sight was another of the landโs cruel illusions: a chimp in a beret and tie, patiently holding a fishing line in a murky puddle, their intense eyes focused on nothing. The first few who saw them told their story and were laughed at. But the sightings continued. Word spread of a merchant who traded not in weapons or potions, but in charcoal sketches and a single, perfectly golden marshmallow. Mahaya became a legend, a story told to see if a traveler was sane. They are the impossible made real, the one calm spot in a world of howling wind and phantom roars.
