Chimper #561
When the merchants of Waterfall City finally learned both their names, Nikurou knew it was time to go. They had made a quiet promise to their younger sibling, Sansan, that their world would be bigger than the damp outskirts and the constant roar of the falls. Sansan deserved to see places where the sky wasn't perpetually misty and the ground didn't always smell of river fish. So Nikurou packed a simple bag, found a sturdy cane to lean on, and led Sansan up the rock-hewn stairs for the last time, never looking back at the great fish statue. Others on the road see an explorer with a suspicious squint, but Sansan sees a diligent guide. That uneasy look is just Nikurou carefully planning the next route, ensuring every new day is worthy of that long-ago promise.
