Oruga

The only trainee in The Crystal Highlands of Armaria to be used as a coat rack was Oruga. It happened after they playfully tried to light a wizard’s pipe from ten paces away and instead singed the cloak of the passing ancient, Shimo. A flash of glacial power, and Oruga—along with the tiny octopus perched on their head—became a very surprised-looking ice sculpture. For three weeks, another trainee, one who had always watched Oruga’s chaotic antics with a fond smile, refused to leave their side. They chipped away the frost with delicate tools and whispered stories of sunsets over the monoliths to keep their spirit warm. When Oruga finally thawed, the first thing they saw was that same chimper, asleep against their shoulder. Their focus has been different ever since.
