Chimper #1079
In Waterfall City, they say you can't net a river fish with one hand. Tokihiko learned this the hard way. A trainee in the city's Lantern Guard, their playful recklessness earned them a scar above their eye and a dunk in the freezing lower rapids. The one who pulled them out wasn't another guard, but a grumpy old frog fisher with a net strong enough to stop a log. As 'payment,' the frog now accompanies Tokihiko on their nightly patrols along the slippery outskirts. The frog grumbles about the youth's terrible jokes and points out every loose stone, while Tokihiko's lanterns cut through the mist rising from the falls. They are the city's most unlikely pairโthe overeager trainee and their perpetually unimpressed, web-footed partner.
