Chimper #213
The Heart of the Forest is vast enough for anyone to get lost, which is precisely why Nodoka chose it. What they didn't plan on was company. They found a tiny, one-eyed frog trying to pay a badger for passage with a song. Nodoka intervened, and has been stuck with the frog ever since. Nodoka relies on their azure visor, a tool of precision that reads air pressure and tracks predators. The frog licks the moss and offers cryptic forecasts like 'the trees feel grumpy.' For weeks, Nodoka found them an irritating, musical burden. That changed when the visor went dark in a thick, magical fog. It was the frog, humming a specific, off-key tune, that guided them through the illusions to safety. The mask still hides Nodoka’s face, but the frog has a permanent seat on their shoulder.
