Chimper #2196
If one were to ask the old boatwrights of Waterfall City about the week the river ran sour, they would not talk of lost coin or empty nets. They would tell of Kyounosuke, the trainee, sitting peacefully on the docks, an easy grin on their face as if nothing were amiss. Their sibling, Kiori, paced behind them, frantic, listing every possible cause and disastrous outcome. Panic had settled over the lower districts like a fog. But Kyounosuke just watched the churning water. "How can you just sit there?" Kiori finally demanded, their voice tight with worry. Kyounosuke simply pointed downstream. A single fishing boat, thought lost in the strange tide, was rounding the bend, its crew waving. It wasn't a miracle, just a return. But for everyone watching, it was enough.
