Juuzaburou

The Archivist of the Lower Steps was once a solitary figure, content to chronicle the official histories of Waterfall City. Then came the frog. It wasn't a magical creature, just an unusually grumpy one who decided the lucky plant on Juuzaburou’s head was prime real estate. Now, they are an inseparable pair. Juuzaburou pores over scrolls with gleeful eyes, their mouth a perfect poker face, while the frog offers croaked corrections based on dockside rumor. They are the city’s most unlikely editorial team. The frog has never asked about the embers that sometimes smolder on Juuzaburou’s back, and Juuzaburou has never offered an explanation. Some stories, they have silently agreed, are best left unrecorded.
