Chimper #2439
Every morning, Hifumi casts their line into the pools that spin above the fortress in The Crystal Highlands of Armaria. It wasn't always so quiet. There was a time when the only thing they cast was a shadow, and the one they watched for across the shimmering water was Suruga. They were on opposite sides of a forgotten arcane dispute, two masked figures clashing amid the monoliths, each convinced of their own righteousness. Their final battle was supposed to settle everything. But as they fought, the pool beneath them reflected not their duel, but a future of ash. They saw the Highlands cracked and barren. In unison, they lowered their weapons. These days, Suruga often sits beside them. They don't speak of the war. They talk about the best bait for crystal trout and how the frog on Hifumi's patch always seems to be smiling right at them.
