Chimper #2967
Motona wore a grin as wide as the river that cuts through The Great Panda City, but their one good eye held all the cold of its mountain winds. The day they earned the frog patch was supposed to be a simple training exercise. Their partner, overeager to impress the visiting Panda Council members, lunged with uncontrolled force. There was a sickening crack of bamboo, a flash of white pain, and then the world was halved forever. Their sensei offered the patch later, a clumsy token of comfort. "True focus," the old teacher murmured, "is not seeing everything, but seeing what truly matters." Motona stitched it on themself, and the grin became their armor. But they can still feel the strike whenever the wind whips too fiercely past the city's bamboo groves.
