Chimper #3352
Motonobu’s staff looks like simple river-bleached driftwood. The fishers working the lower tiers of Waterfall City will tell you it’s a luck charm, tapping it three times before they cast their nets. They see an optimistic wanderer with a kind grin and a funny eye patch. The city guards, however, see a nuisance. They blame the staff for spontaneous rain showers that only douse their torches and for the plaza’s great fish statue suddenly sprouting a mustache made of moss. But the mystics in the pale stone temple see something else entirely. They once watched Motonobu quell a raging water spirit with a whisper and a touch of that staff, and the resulting silence was more terrifying than the storm. They say the power radiating from them is an echo of legends like Shinpi, a grin masking an evolved, transcendent force.
