Chimper #405
Numahiko clung to the slippery rock stairs of Waterfall City, convinced each gust of spray was plotting to send them tumbling into the fishing boats below. They were supposed to be mapping the upper aqueducts, a task befitting a great adventurer. But Numahiko wasn’t great; they were just perpetually uneasy. Elders whispered that they possessed the unbreakable will of Daiyamondo, pointing to the faint diamond dust that always shimmered on their pack. Numahiko just wished they possessed a sturdy handrail. Their rare crystal-wielding power felt less like a gift and more like a heavy, fragile vase they were forced to carry through a crowded market. Finally, they found a secluded ledge. Not to uncover a lost relic, but to eat their snack in peace, hoping the roar of the falls would drown out their own anxious thoughts.
