Chimper #4198
Riyuuko was calculating the precise moment to intercept a falling stack of fish barrels when they met. The barrels were tipping over the main plaza of Waterfall City, a merchant was wailing, and another chimp was about to be flattened. Riyuuko moved, not out of heroism, but because the physics of the problem were fascinating. After, the rescued chimp tried to thank them, but Riyuuko’s poker face gave nothing away. Their chimpborg eyes whirred softly, scanning the other’s heart rate. “Pulse elevated,” Riyuuko noted aloud. “Conclusion: gratitude or mild panic.” M-100’s official analysis had concluded they were sub-optimally equipped for social interaction. What it didn’t predict was that the other chimp found their deadpan assessments hilarious, and started showing up every day with a new, illogical puzzle for Riyuuko to solve. The biggest one yet is why they keep accepting the flowers.
