Chimper #420
Should a traveler ask the fisher-frogs down by the river docks about the chimp with the glowing heart, they would be met with a shrug. Micchi never wanted to be a beacon. They were perfectly content with a life of mending nets, where the roar of the great cascade overhead drowned out the world's problems. Then, a barge broke loose in a storm, and a power inside Micchi flared without permission, a glimmering warmth that stilled the churning water. They saved the crew, and in doing so, lost their treasured anonymity. These days, others make the trek down the stone stairs to their door with pleas for help. Micchi puts on the mask and visor, a futile attempt to disappear. They always help, driven by a stubborn need to fix things so they can finally be left alone.
