Shido

The food-obsessed locals in The Heart of the Forest say Shido is perpetually thirsty. They appear at every festival with a dry cup, watching the dancing chimps with defiant, calculating eyes, but never drink. Some whisper the scar across their face was a punishment for abandoning a high post, and that they wear the general’s suit as a constant reminder of their failure. They patrol the outer woods, a rogue guardian protecting a place that doesn't seem to need it. But the children have a different story. They claim Shido isn't thirsty for water, but for a specific memory they lost the day they were injured—a memory that explains why they came here, and what danger they alone seem to see approaching.
