What use is a mask to a chimp whose laughter is recognized from one end of the bamboo-lined streets to the other? In The Great Panda City, Tajirou is a legend not for their wealth, but for the sheer joy they bring to every transaction. They built their trading empire on fair prices and a smile that could thaw the city’s freezing winds. Yet, they are never seen without their painted kitsune mask. Rivals whisper it's a tool, a way to maintain an unreadable face during negotiations. They are wrong. Every evening, after the last ledger is closed, Tajirou pulls the mask down tight and becomes someone else entirely: the trickster fox who hides sweet dumplings for their grandchildren to find among the cherry blossom roots. The wrinkles around their mouth aren't from stress, but from decades of smiling at the game.
