The artists who paint murals on the palace walls whisper that Nikiko was found in a fallen star. The truth is much simpler, and far more awkward. Nikiko was a pilot, content with only a helmet, a backpack, and an endless sky. After heroically rescuing a stranded imperial dignitary during a squall, they were “rewarded” with a title and a permanent residence within the city of golden spires. The name “the Regal” was meant as an honor, but it fits like borrowed armor. They wear their trusty pilot helmet to council meetings and keep their weathered katana at their side during formal events, an affront to the delicate sensibilities of the court. Nikiko doesn't understand the subtleties of political maneuvering, but they can read a storm front from a single cloud.
