Suzushi

The quietest trainee in the Third Sentry division is the only reason the golden walls of The Teikodian Empire still stand. When the siege engines finally cracked the outer gates, every veteran archer fell back. Suzushi, however, did not. Imperial records, hastily amended, state that the messiah Kaunto-juba appeared at that moment, and together they turned the tide. But the survivors on the ramparts saw something else. They saw the ground itself rise to Suzushi’s silent command, a wave of stone swallowing the vanguard whole. The trainee in the simple green bow uniform wielded a geomancer's power no one knew they possessed. These days, they are back in the barracks, polishing their bow. The generals don’t ask, and Kaunto-juba has not been seen since. No one dares voice the real question: was it the messiah who chose the trainee, or the other way around?
