Chimper #5234
The old foragers have a saying: 'The deepest roots fear the smallest spark.' To the festive locals in The Heart of the Forest, Nobumi is just a sad whisper of a chimper, a grey shadow who passes through with an uneasy mouth and far-off gaze. They see a wanderer who flinches at loud songs and refuses every offer of a shared meal. But the loggers from the wilder edges tell a different story. They speak of a time bandits cornered Nobumi, and the scorching embers on their back erupted into a cyclone of fire, leaving nothing but ash and silence. Only one old mystic claims to know the truth: Nobumi once witnessed the fury of Moeru. They carry a similar fire within, and they are terrified of it. The wandering isn't for discovery; it's a frantic race to outrun the person they could become.
