In the wilder outer forests, they and a rival merchant named Watari treated every bamboo grove as a battlefield. They found the pipe near a stream, and their argument over who saw it first drew the attention of something old and hungry from the deep woods. Watari was cornered, disarmed. In a heartbeat, Happii chose to shove their entire cart of bamboo at the beast, sacrificing a week's profit for an enemy's life. The next morning, the pipe was left at their camp. They both found their way to The Heart of the Forest eventually, the unspoken truce settling between them like the amber leaves. The pipe now serves as a quiet reminder that the most valuable trades are the ones you never expect to make.
