Chimper #1176
One ancient sabre, two conflicting oaths, and a thousand splinters of a promise made under an autumn moon. The blade was never meant for this. In The Heart of the Forest, Etsuyo used it to prune sacred boughs, its polished steel reflecting a life of quiet nurturing. But then Momochi came, speaking not of conquest, but of protectionโof using the shadows to preserve the light. Etsuyo was recruited by this vision, believing the sabre could defend their home from afar. The oath to the forest was supplanted by an oath to the cause. These days, the blade is cleaned with coarse rags in dark corners, its edge honed for missions that have nothing to do with growth. Etsuyo still treats it with reverence, a perfect, gleaming tool for ugly work.
