Chimper #884
Nisaburou despises being the center of attention, yet every afternoon they train with their rival in the most public clearing in The Heart of the Forest. The crack of combat poles echoes as their rival, all sharp angles and sharper taunts, pushes them back. Nisaburouโs cheeks burn with every missed block, every clumsy recovery. But they never yield. They just grip their pole tighter, the lucky plant on their head bobbing with a quiet resilience the locals have come to admire. The duel always ends the same way: with two steaming bowls of ramen from the village stall. Not a word is spoken between them, a shared understanding that the only thing to say will be said tomorrow, with their poles.
