Chimper #116
Yumari was the last chimp anyone would pick to guard something important. While the wizards of the highlands debated grand theories from their midnight-dark fortress, Yumari was usually getting lost, perpetually startled by the echo of their own footsteps among the giant, colorful rocks. They found the forgotten shrine of Hogo-sha by following what they believed was a rare phosphorescent beetle, only to realize it was just a regular bug reflecting the sunset. But the shrine was there, and no one else was. So, they stayed. Their guardianship is a series of fumblesโusing ancient maps upside down, mistaking solemn wind chimes for an attack. Yet, they have never failed. Would-be thieves are less defeated and more confused by the chimp who trips, drops a rock on their foot, and somehow blocks the path in the process.
