Teiyuu

When the Panda Council announced the Festival of Floating Lanterns, Teiyuu’s mission was to intercept a coded message being passed near the river. Their years as an agent in The Great Panda City taught them patience. What they were unprepared for was a clumsy baker tripping over their own feet and sending a tray of sweet buns flying. One landed perfectly on Teiyuu's head, next to their lucky plant. The baker, mortified, offered to treat them to tea as an apology. Over that cup, Teiyuu learned more about flour than espionage. Every time the baker laughed, the embers on Teiyuu’s back flared with warmth, nearly setting the paper placemat smoldering. The coded message was never intercepted, but a second date was enthusiastically secured.
