Chimper #1862
The pot of 'war paint' on Wanakaโs windowsill is actually just mashed river berries and mud. They apply it with great ceremony every morning, a ritual learned from their mentor, Yaban-hito. The barbarian uses a bone knife to strike fear into enemies; Wanaka uses a fluffy cattail stem and tries to make the swirls look like little fish. Their patrols through Waterfall City have become a local spectacle. Yaban-hito will stomp through the plaza, scattering frogs, while Wanaka trails behind, distracted by the way sunlight glints off the great fish statue. Yaban-hito once grunted that survival meant seeing the world as an enemy. Wanaka nodded seriously, then spent the afternoon in a staring contest with the waterfall.
