Chimper #2254
When the freezing winds tore the flyers from their hands, Sakusaburou just wanted to start a poetry club. The flyers, written on bamboo paper, invited others to โpierce the veil of mundane prose.โ The symbol at the bottom was a poorly drawn cherry blossom. But in a city of high altitudes and whispered traditions, things get twisted. One flyer landed in a diplomat's courtyard. Another stuck to a guard's spear. Soon, rumors spread of a heretic gathering followers. Chimps arrived at Sakusaburouโs door, expecting forbidden rites. Instead, they got lukewarm tea and a nervous reading of ancient texts. Too flustered to correct anyone, Sakusaburou just kept reading. Their social awkwardness was mistaken for mystic stoicism; their fumbling with the tea kettle was seen as a ritualistic gesture.
