Chimper #2330
Traders in the plaza of Waterfall City swear the dragonslayer blade on Eeichi's back is purely ceremonial. They have never seen it drawn. Eeichi encourages this belief. They keep the red panda mask on, especially near the water's edge, where their own reflection is clearest. But they remember the one time. A young sea dragon, lost in the river's current, panicked by the city's noise. Eeichi, who could feel the creature's fear through the water, tried to guide it back. But the city guard demanded its death. In the chaos, the blade was drawn. Eeichi shares the ocean with spirits like Kaito, but feels unworthy of that kinship now. The mask doesn't hide them from the city; it hides their face from the water that saw what they did.
