Chimper #284
“That one, by the lower rapids? They say they fought in the last line beside Yukimura.” The fisher who said it didn't know the half of it. They only saw the wanderer with the uneasy gaze and the combat pole who never stayed still. In Waterfall City, Ryouhachirou paced the high plazas, memories of battle replaying in the roar of the cascade. They were a ghost haunted by a war everyone else tried to forget. That changed with a simple question from a net-mender on the docks: “Is that for fighting, or for balance on the wet stones?” No one had ever asked about the pole’s purpose, only its past. Ryouhachirou didn’t have an answer then, but these days they find themself using it for both.
