Kinuno

"That one? Oh, they're just here for the library," a winged villager will tell you, which is confusing because The Fluorescent Isles don't have one. Kinuno was an archivist who requested 'traditional field gear' for a simple research trip and was sent a sensei's robes, a ninja mask, and a distressingly sharp katana. They came to study high-altitude flora, but everyone here thinks they are a wandering warrior. Instead of cataloging rare blossoms, they spend their days politely declining requests to slay gem-stealing dragons. They've discovered that threatening to write a lengthy, footnoted report on someone's poor conduct is a surprisingly effective deterrent. The intense eyes are just from trying to read tiny plant labels in the bright sun.
