Chimper #3761
In Waterfall City, they say the river holds memories of every soul that has ever crossed its path. Mayori just thought it held really big fish, which was reason enough to spend their days on the lower docks, a ridiculous lure bobbing from their hat. For years, it was a simple game of patience and wit against the current. But one afternoon, while watching the light dance on the spray near the great stone temple, they saw something else flicker beneath the surfaceโnot a fish, but a face. It was a chimper theyโd never met, yet they knew their name. Then came another, and another. Visions of futures and echoes of forgotten pacts, all tangled in the roar of the falls. The grin hasnโt changed. Their line has been cast in the water for three days, unmoving, as they wait for one particular face to appear again.
