Etsue

Etsue’s shades were a gift from the sky itself, or so they tell everyone. The legend claims that during a particularly grumpy thunderstorm in The Dragon Wastelands, a bolt of lightning struck not the ground, but Etsue’s face, leaving behind only the cool, dark lenses and a permanent side smile. This, of course, explains nothing about the yellow bandana, which they insist is for “soaking up excess coolness.” They honor the great sentinel Giri not by guarding a swamp, but by being just as immovable when it comes to finding a comfortable spot to enjoy a good downpour. Warlords have charged them, ghost dragons have swooped past, yet Etsue has never been seen to do more than adjust their shades and calmly ask if the noise could be kept down, as they are trying to listen to the rain.
