Chimper #3849
Judei fumbled with the crate latch, nearly sending a dozen porcelain toads clattering across the gilded street. They hated haggling. They were supposed to be an artist, a poet of the setting sun, not a merchant in the heart of The Teikodian Empire. But family duty called, and now they spend their days trying to sell wares to people who might have them executed for a misplaced compliment. Their primary sales tactic is offering a piece of their ever-present choc stick, a gesture so bewilderingly genuine that most customers buy something out of pure confusion. At night, they climb to their rooftop and stare at the stars. While the rebel Sutaraito uses those same celestial patterns to plot freedom, Judei just uses them to make sure they are not facing the imperial dungeons when they set up their stall the next morning.
