What happens when the monster you were sent to slay turns out to be a mirror? Chikahiko was once a scholar, content to study the shifting hues of sunset on the monoliths of The Crystal Highlands of Armaria. But when rogue magic threatened the fortress, they were given the Dragonslayer Blade and a single target: a dangerous chimper named Shizuyoko, said to be the source of the chaos. Chikahiko hunted them for weeks, ready for a climactic battle. Instead, they found Shizuyoko desperately trying to mend the same magical fissures Chikahiko was ordered to cauterize. In that moment, Chikahiko saw their own reflection in a supposed enemy. The true threat wasn't a person; it was the flawed orders they followed. Their blade never fell.
