Chimper #4495
Seriina did not listen for danger; they listened for the absence of it. While others heard the thunder of the great falls, Seriina’s recon headset filtered it into a low hum. They built it years ago with Mekanikku, a project born of shared paranoia. It was designed to sift through communications, to catch a whisper of a threat before it became a shout. Mekanikku called it a 'peace-keeper'. After the defector vanished, Seriina was left with the device and a perpetual sense of unease. These days, they sit by the fish statue in the main plaza, idly waving a fan, their combat pole resting nearby. The headset picks up everything: the chatter of fishers making deals, the gossip of merchants on the rock stairs, the wind whistling through the high city. They are a guardian, but their greatest battle is with the silence between sounds.
