Sadaaki

Sadaaki is the city's foremost, albeit self-proclaimed, expert on Mystic Cats. Their primary evidence for this title is a fluffy, long-suffering cat who follows them everywhere. Sadaaki interprets every twitch of their companion's ear as a profound prophecy. A hiss warning of a loose roof tile is translated as, "The spirits demand we sample the dumplings from that cart!" A yawn is a sacred vision of the best place to nap. The strangest part is that Sadaaki's luck, much like that of the famed Maneki-neko, makes their wild interpretations come true. They wander the bamboo-lined streets under the purple sky, a duo of oblivious cheer and exasperated sighs, somehow always ending up exactly where they need to be.
