Kuina

Kuina is the most successful merchant in The Heart of the Forest, yet has never actually sold anything. They arrived with impeccable ledgers, a crisp tie, and a crate of beautiful guiding lanterns, fully intending to establish a lucrative trade route. The locals, however, saw the formalwear and assumed it was avant-garde dinner theater. They applauded Kuina’s attempts to explain pricing, mistaking it for performance art, and began leaving payment in acorn pies and berry tarts. Being an optimist, Kuina started a new ledger to track the exchange rate of compliments to baked goods. This comedic dual nature, a quiet nod to Taihi's own split, means by day they are a serious entrepreneur, but in reality, they are the best-fed performer in the woods.
