Chimper #2795
Yogiku was only trying to buy a fish. A very specific, silver-scaled fish that Tetsura had mentioned wanting for their anniversary dinner. Down by the docks at the waterfall's base, their polished platinum sheen and cool shades must have looked official. Instead of selling them a fish, the nervous boat crew handed over a heavy, ceremonial oar, assuming it was for the annual blessing. Confused but optimistic, Yogiku carried it up the great rock stairs. The city guards, seeing the oar, mistook them for a late entrant in the 'Trial of the Current' and escorted them straight to the main plaza. Tetsura arrived just in time to see the city elder place a gaudy, fish-shaped crown on Yogiku's head. Yogiku just grinned, accepting the town’s highest non-existent honor. They had takeout that night.
