Kazatsugi

The bamboo merchants in The Great Panda City will tell you that Kazatsugi’s mind was stolen by the river spirits. They were once a visionary, a noble whose psychic sight was sought by the Panda Council. But one day, a vision showed them a stranger named Ririan slipping from the city’s high walkways into the freezing torrent below. Kazatsugi raced to the riverbank and plunged in, pulling the drowning chimper to safety. But in the churning water, they saw a reflection of not just Ririan's fate, but a thousand other terrible futures, all at once. The psychic overload shattered their clarity. These days, they just fish, dressed in a fine pink yukata, sipping strawberry milk. Ririan remains by their side, a constant, silent reminder of a life saved at the cost of a mind.
