Chimper #3831
Every morning, Tsunekazu checks the river nets with their partner, a pragmatic frog who handles the books. They met years ago, two displaced souls who had found shelter in the refuge built by Shokei-moji. When it was time to move on, they came to Waterfall City together, seeking a quiet life. The frog found it. Tsunekazu did not. Their partner is content with the city's rhythms, the haggling at the fish statue, the predictability of the currents. But Tsunekazuโs intense eyes are always scanning the horizon, thirsty for a challenge the daily catch can't provide. The battle jacket they wear feels less like protection and more like a memory of a life with higher stakes. Their partner knows the look; they see it every dawn as Tsunekazu stares up the falls, towards a world far beyond their peaceful city.
