Chimper #801
Kitsuji keeps their old life carved into the cane. They were a woodworker in The Heart of the Forest, once, before finding a shard of dark wood half-buried in moss. It was a splinter from the very weapon that broke Andeddo, and as Kitsuji worked it, the splinter's curse bled into their hands, chilling their heart until it stopped. They did not fall. They simply… continued. Each intricate carving on the cane is a memory they can no longer feel: the taste of ripe berries, the warmth of the sun. The mask hides the face of one who has forgotten their own smile. They trade small charms with the forest locals, but the cane is never for sale. It is the only proof they ever truly lived at all.
