Airai

In The Teikodian Empire, a formal challenge is a matter of life and death, sealed with a bow and witnessed by officials. Airai, however, believes a rivalry is best announced by yelling it across a crowded market. Their chosen opponent is Yasuke, a fact the prince is only vaguely aware of through exasperated reports from the palace guard. Armed with a fiery mohawk that suggests immense fury and puppy eyes that suggest they've just lost a sock, Airai’s duels are legendary for their pointlessness. Since their powers began evolving, the challenges have simply gotten more ambitious. They once spent a week trying to out-stare a statue of Yasuke’s ancestor. The guards just leave them to it these days. Everyone agrees Airai is becoming a fearsome fighter, just not for any of the reasons they think.
